Grief Support

Hospice of San Joaquin offers grief  (bereavement) support to any person or group who has experienced the death of a family member or friend.  The bereavement groups are available to the wider community as well as our hospice families.   The programs are designed to help participants understand the experience of grief, to develop healthy coping skills, and to have opportunities to share feelings with peers who have also experienced a loss.

The following programs are available:

council

Adult Bereavement - Hospice of San Joaquin offers bereavement support groups on a regular basis. These groups are for those who have experienced the death of someone close to them and would like to learn more about the grieving process and gain support and insight from others who have had similar experiences.

teens

Teen Bereavement - Family, friends and teachers don't always know what your going through. We do! This workshop is for High-School aged teens who have lost a loved one and is led by Hospice of San Joaquin Bereavment staff and volunteers.

 Children’s Bereavement - Children will have an opportunity to explore their feelings through a variety of mediums such as art, music, journaling, games, and storytelling. Groups are led by a Hospice of San Joaquin Bereavement staff member with assistance from trained Bereavement Volunteers.

Education Presentations

Education - Educational presentations are available to any professional group, faith based communities, schools and civic groups.   Topic can be tailored to fit the need of the organization.  Examples of topics offered are:  Understanding Grief, How to help the Bereaved, Coping during the holidays, Spirituality and Loss.

Bereavement Events- Community events are offered throughout the year and are an opportunity for the bereaved to gather, remember, and share.
